These interdisciplinary works explore Black narratives, social justice, and gendered experiences in America. Reverse and Recharge integrate dance and film to examine coming-of-age, resilience, and collective healing, while Gold Pylon expands this inquiry through XR technology and motion capture to reimagine the body in digital space.

Gold Pylon

Live Performance

Gold Pylon (In-Progress)

This Afrofuturistic multimedia live performance piece explores Black women’s testimonies. How do testimonies act as an intercessory technology that travels through time and connects people to a higher power? Using the metaphor of gold and its purification process—the more tests and fires one goes through, the purer they become—these women come on behalf of Gabrielle’s grandmother in order to take her to the other side. They metaphorically become pylons as seen in front of Egyptian Temples.
